• 0 <br />c. Gowns, gloves, and other trace contaminated non -sharps objects are deposited in the <br />container. <br />d. A contracted medical waste hauler picks up the containers for transport to an approved <br />incineration facility when routine medical waste is hauled away for treatment. <br />e. All sharps are to be disposed of in sharps containers. If a sharp, in a sharp container, has been <br />contaminated through contact with, or having previously contained, chemotherapy agents, then <br />the sharps container shall be segregated for storage and, when placed in a secondary <br />container, that container shall be labeled with the words "Chemotherapy Waste" or "Chemo, <br />INCINERATION ONLY". <br />D. PHARMACEUTICAL.: "Pharmaceutical" means a prescription or over-the-counter human or veterinary <br />drug, including, but not limited to, a drug as defined in Section 109925 or the Federal Food, Drug, and <br />Cosmetic Act, as amended, (21 U.S.C.A. Sec. 321(g)(1)). <br />1. Pharmaceutical -generated waste is managed by the Medical Waste Disposal Vendor and <br />Environmental Services until placed into the locked storage area outside the hospital building. No <br />access is permitted into the pharmaceutical waste collection/storage area other than Medical Waste <br />Disposal Vendor, Environmental Services and the Safety Officer. These containers are labeled with <br />Pharmaceutical "INCINERATION ONLY". <br />2. The Pharmaceutical RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, as amended (42 <br />U.S.C.A. Sec. 6901 et seq.) generated waste is managed by an approved.vendor that manages <br />hazardous waste.
