KA no Waste Disposal <br /> Procedure# Dining Services Sanitation <br /> DIN400-640 <br /> PROCEDURE STATEMENT: The Dining Services department will hold,transfer and dispose <br /> of waste in a manner that does not create a nuisance or breeding place for insects and rodents, or <br /> otherwise permit the transmission of disease. <br /> PROCEDURE DETAILS: <br /> Guidelines <br /> Observe the following guidelines concerning waste disposal: <br /> © Garbage is disposed of in a manner compliant with local and state recycling ordinances <br /> 0 Use garbage containers that are leak-proof,non-absorbent and have tight-fitting covers <br /> 0 Use impervious plastic liners <br /> m Trash should be emptied as soon as the container is full;do not allow trash to accumulate to <br /> the point that the bag cannot be closed or the trashcan lid does not fit tightly <br /> ® Tie off and remove trash bags to outside dumpster as they become full;do not hold until the <br /> end of the shift <br /> ® Avoid stacking trash bags higher than eye level while transporting to dumpsters <br /> 0 Break down and flatten cardboard boxes before placing them in the dumpster or assigned <br /> recycle storage area <br /> ® Keep dumpster lids closed at all times <br /> m Keep dumpster and dumpster site areas clean and free of debris <br /> 0 Follow local environmental practices for the disposal of grease <br /> 0 Dispose of broken glass, china and potentially sharp items is in accordance with local and <br /> facility policy on sharp items <br /> 19 Dispose of mercury in accordance with local and facility policies (refer to the Safety and <br /> Loss Control Manual <br /> Version#: 1 Pagel of 2 <br />
