g,� <br /> �en Medical Waste Management — Employee <br /> Training <br /> IC-514 Clinical - Infection Prevention and <br /> Control <br /> POLICY STATEMENT: <br /> All personnel will be required to attend and participate in regularly scheduled in-service training <br /> programs. <br /> THIS POLICY APPLIES TO: <br /> r . <br /> DEFINITIONS (AS NEEDED): <br /> Policy Interpretation and Imple* Mentation <br /> Class Attendance I- All personnel who generate or handle infectious waste will be required to attend and <br /> participate in infectious waste management training.The training will provide an <br /> overview of the issues and will identify relevant policies and procedures_ <br /> Contentsof Class 2. Training in medical waste management includes,but is not limited to: <br /> a.An explanation and review of the medical waste management plan; <br /> b.A review of each employee's duties and responsibilities concerning the handling, <br /> disposing,and storage of medical wastes;and <br /> c.Possible health and safety hazards associated with handling and disposal of <br /> potentially infectious medical waste. <br /> References to Policies and 3.All staff and practitioners will refer to relevant policies and procedures regarding <br /> Procedures management of inti ctious wastes in their everyday activities. <br /> Blood/Excretions/Secretions 4.Liquid blood,excretions, and secretions shall be flushed into the sewer system <br /> Recording Weight of 5.The weight,in pounds,will be recorded on the medical waste tracking form <br /> Wastes (manifest)and/or the shipment log maintained by this facility. <br /> Compactor/Dumpster 6. Any compactor/dumpster must be locked from the outside when not in use and at <br /> night. <br /> Authorized Vendors 7.
