June 29 & 30 2005 <br /> Inservice <br /> Medical Waste Management <br /> Mandatory All Staff <br /> Objective: <br /> Staff will all have knowledge of location and proper <br /> disposal of bio-hazard waste. <br /> • Bio-Hazard waste now located on Station 1, next to <br /> the A. .O.N `s office. Key located at station 1 me <br /> room. Charge nurse to obtain key and open door for <br /> proper disposal. <br /> • No more bio-hazard waste container in station two, <br /> Utility room. Station two staff needs to go to station <br /> one to dispose of bio-hazard waste. <br /> • When containers at Station One are full, <br /> housekeeping staff will move full containers to <br /> outside locked storage area behind the dumpsters, in <br /> he front parking lot. Key to storage is on same key <br /> chain as the bio-hazard waste closet on station one. <br /> • Medication destruction done per P&P by the D.Q.N. <br /> Special sealed containers are used for their <br /> destruction and placed in the outside storage area for <br /> pick-up by the waste management company. <br /> • Sharps containers to be placed in a red bag, make <br /> sure sharps container is sealed and secure, then place <br />
