H <br />DISPOSAL OF INFECTIOUS WASTE <br />Policy: <br />It is the policy of Beverly Manor to dispose of the <br />infectious waste in a manner approved by all local, <br />state and federal regulatory agencies for the protection <br />of the health of all employees and residents in <br />the facility. <br />Procedure: <br />All nurses place infectious waste in closed red bags. <br />Theses bags are carried to the Utility Room and placed <br />in the container labeled "Infectious Waste". <br />This container is lined with a red bag. <br />Twice a day the janitor empties the waste container and <br />washes the container with Quat. Cleaner. All materials <br />used to clean the container are disposed of into the <br />red bag. The bag is sealed and carried to the outside <br />storage labeled "Infectious Waste". <br />This storage is a locked area. The waste is place in <br />the large container which are lined with a red bag. <br />A current contract is maintained with BFI Waste. <br />They pick up the large containers and drop off clean <br />containers on a routine schedule. <br />
