SEGREGATION: All hazardous disposable wastes shall <br /> Ue segregated from other solid wastes at the point <br /> of origin. <br /> D. REUSABL-Ep MATE""HAL: It is recommended that Section <br /> IIofthe guidelines be considered for handling <br /> hazardous reusable material until rendered non- <br /> hazardous. <br /> E. INTERIM STPOIL11GE: Hazardous or infectious disposable <br /> wastes�shall always be stored in such a manner and <br /> in such a container as to preclude accidental trans- <br /> mission of disease or causing of an injury to <br /> personnel in the proximity. Hazardous or infectious <br /> disposable wastes shall not be stored in a <br /> compactor. <br /> 1 . Acceptable containers for hazardous or infectious <br /> wastes include; <br /> a. For wastes except 11sharps" (as defined in <br /> Section 4143 of the Business and Professions <br /> Code) disposable double bag (either plastic <br /> or paper) which is impervious to moisture, <br /> double-tied, and has a strength sufficient <br /> to preclude ripping or tearing under normal <br /> use. (If 11sharps" have been pulverized, <br /> melted or otherwise processed so as to make <br /> them incapable of puncturing, cutting, etc. , <br /> then they may be disposed of in this type of <br /> container. ) <br /> For wastes containing "sharps" - disposable <br /> rigid, puncture proof container, such as <br /> cardboard or reusable rigid container, which <br /> has been taped closed so as to preclude <br /> escape of any material, including liquids and <br /> and aerosols. <br /> Needlec, syringes, blades (after being <br /> rendered useless)will be placed into a plastic <br /> denture ,c. which is inside the destructoclip. <br />
