Hazardous or infectious disposable wastes shall not be stored in a compactor. 1 . Acceptable containers for hazardous or infectious wastes include; a. For wastes except 11sharps" (as defined in Section 4143 of the Business and Professions Code) disposable double bag (either plastic or paper) which is impervious to moisture, double-tied, and has a strength sufficient to preclude ripping or tearing under normal use. (If 11sharps" have been pulverized, melted or otherwise processed so as to make them incapable of puncturing, cutting, etc. , then they may be disposed of in this type of container. ) For wastes containing "sharps" - disposable rigid, puncture proof container, such as cardboard or reusable rigid container, which has been taped closed so as to preclude escape of any material, including liquids and and aerosols. Needlec, syringes, blades (after being rendered useless)will be placed into a plastic denture ,c. which is inside the destructoclip.
