The pharmaceutical <br /> waste containers in use are stored in the bathroom in the Director of Nurses office along with food for employees. <br /> (This violation was corrected during the inspection.) <br /> 25. Biohazardous waste is stored above 32 F onsite for days. <br /> -A person who generates 20 or more pounds of biohazardous waste per month shall not contain or store that waste above 32 F <br /> onsite for more than 7 days. A person who generates less than 20 pounds of biohazardous waste per month shall not contain or <br /> store that waste above 32 F onsite for more than 30 days. NSC 118280(e)(1). In 14 out of the last 24 months,the amount of <br /> medical waste generated exceeded 20 lbs.when the frequency of pick-ups was 30 days or greater. When the quantity <br /> of medical waste generated exceeds 20lbs., it must be picked-up by a licensed hauler every 7 days. <br /> All corrections are due by 2/18/19. <br /> Notes: <br /> 1) Daniels Sharpsmart is the licensed medical waste hauler. Pick-ups occur, on average, once per month. The maximum <br /> amount of biohazardous waste generated in a month was 68.11 lbs. <br /> 2) Pharmaceutical waste was picked-up once in the last year.
