CATEGORIES OF ISOLATION AND THE USE OF SPI CIAT CARE, AREA", <br /> A. There are five categories of isolation , according to the <br /> epidemiology of the infectious disease or condition. <br /> B.. Duration & condition -of isolation can be selected from coding. <br /> C. Color-codedsighs , denoting and category of isolation will be <br /> displayed on the door of the isolated patient ' s room. <br /> The following are the categories of isolation : <br /> 1 . ENTERIC ISOLATION - (sign color : Brown Abbrev . ENI) <br /> a . 1 . Di.arrheal outbreaks <br /> 2 . Hepatitis , A.B . or non A&B <br /> 3. Salmonelloisis (includ:i.ng thyphoid fever ) <br /> 4 . Shigellosis <br /> 5. Enteropathogenic E. Coli Gastorenteritis <br /> b . Visitors - Report to Nurse ' s Station before Entering Room. <br /> 1 . Gowns must be worn by all persons having direct contact. <br /> 2. Hands must be washed on entering and leaving room. <br /> 3. Masks are not necessary <br /> 4 . Gloves must be worn by persons having direct contact <br /> 4q, with patient or with articles contaminated with fecal <br /> material . <br /> 5. Special precautions necessary for articles contaminated <br /> with urine and feces . WOUND AND SKIN ISOLATION : (sign color : Green Abbrev . WSI) <br /> a . Disease requiring wound and skin precautions <br /> 1 . Burns , extensive , notinfected with staphylococcus <br /> qureus or Group A streptococcus . <br /> 2. Gas ganrene <br /> 3. Inpetigo <br /> 4 . Staphylococcal skin and wound infections <br /> 5. Streptococcal skin infection <br /> 6. Wound infection, extensive <br /> b . Visitors-Report to Nurse ' s Station before entering room. <br /> 1 . Frivate room-if available <br /> 2. Gowns-worn by all persons having direct contact <br /> 3. Masks neeess.ary during dressing changes <br /> 4 . Hands washed on entering and leaving room. <br /> 5. Gloves worn by all persons having direct contact <br /> with infected area . <br /> 6 .
