ARAMAL KIDNEY MEDICAL CLINW INC. <br />POLICIES & PROCEDURES <br />29 1987 <br />r 7 ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH <br />SUBJECT: Handling of Infectious Waste r R IT/SERI <br />CES <br />POLICY: In compliance with the California Infectious Waste Regulation <br />Section 25117.5 of the Health & Safety Code; the following <br />procedures will be followed in the storage, containment & disposal <br />of infectious waste at the Dialysis Clinic. *See attached copy of <br />Infectious Waste Regulation* <br />I Storage: <br />1. Identified infectious waste will be double bagged with red, <br />"Bio Hazard", infectious waste bag tied securely to prevent <br />leakage or expulsion of the waste. <br />II Containment <br />1. Infectious waste will be stored & contained in a large <br />"Infectious Waste" dumpster outside of building. Container is <br />RED in color with white print in both English & Spanish <br />bearing the words "CAUTION -INFECTIOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA <br />UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT!" These letters are very <br />legible at 25 feet distance. <br />III Disposal <br />EC �; - l v <br />1. This dumpster will be picked up o e a week by Stockton <br />Scavenger who will be responsibl for disinfecting said <br />dumpster each time infectious waste is picked up and disposed <br />of. <br />2. The method of disposal Stockton Scavenger'1s done in <br />accordance with one of sped regu ations. <br />3. A certificate or receipt of each pick up will be provided to <br />AINC by Stockton Scavenger where a permanent log will be kept. <br />4. Portable garbage bin will be used inside the clinic to haul <br />all infectious waste generated daily at the clinic to store in <br />infectious waste dumpster outside of building. <br />5. This portable garbage bin will be disinfected with bleach <br />solution every week or as often as possible or when deemed <br />necessary to do so. <br />6. Dialysis prime (waste water) containers will be dumped to <br />sewer line. <br />7.
