Observations and Corrective Actions: 25. Biohazard bag is not placed in a rigid container that is leak resistant, tightly fit lid, clean, in good repair and appropriately labeled - Biohazardous waste shall be bagged and placed in a rigid container which is leak resistant, have tight -fitting cover, and be kept clean and in good repair. Container shall be labeled with the words "Biohazardous Waste" or "BIOHAZARD" on the lid and on the sides so as to be visible from any lateral direction. HSC 118280(c) – The biohazard waste containers located in the outside storage area were not lined. Line the containers with biohazard bags, provide photographic evidence to the EHD. 30. The designated accumulation area is not secured or marked with proper signage. - A designated accumulation area shall be secured by use of locks on entry doors, gates, or receptacle lids and marked with warning sign, "CAUTION—BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA—UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT', in English and in another language determined to be appropriate by the infectious control staff or LEA. HSC118310 — The verbiage on the warning signs of the outside storage area did not meet the requirements of the Medical Waste Management Act. Provide the proper signage and submit photographic evidence to the EHD. NOTES Submit all corrections to the EHD by March 30, 2020. 1. Stericycle is the medical waste hauler. Biohazardous waste is picked up every 7 days. 2. Tracking records were available for review. 3. The pharmaceutical waste pick-up frequency has decreased from the beginning of 2019 to the end of 2019.
