The approved method for decontamination is to <br />contain spill with absorbent disposable towels or other absorbent material and then to <br />disinfect with a fresh 1:10 solution of bleach. The solution should be allowed contact with the <br />area for a minimum of 3 minutes. The amount of solution mixed will be no more than can be <br />used at any one time. <br />VI. MEDICAL WASTE TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL METHOD <br />All Medical Waste shall be picked up at least weekly by contracted medical waste hauler for <br />transport to the off-site treatment facility. <br />VII. RECORDS <br />The contracted medical waste hauler pickup records shall be kept in the Accounting Office and <br />Laboratory at Public Health and retained for a minimum of three (3) years. <br />PHS clinic will keep a record when waste is hauled: date, time, location from which waste was <br />hauled and date/time received at storage location. See Appendix A for Limited Quantity <br />Hauling Log. All medical waste records - hauler pick-up records, hauler proof of treatment <br />records, and SJCC at PHS Self -Hauling tracking records - will be maintained for a minimum of <br />two (2) years. <br />VIII.
