The Public Health Clinic
and Public Health Laboratory are the only generators of medical waste for SJCPHS. In addition,
the Public Health Clinic has a Medical Waste Limited Hauler permit to allow for transport to
SJCPHS for proper disposal of small quantities (less than 20 lbs at any one time) of biohazardous
waste from either other clinic sites in the county or from field use during patient visits. In
addition the Public Health Clinic may have pourable pharmaceutical waste which requires
incineration. All biohazardous/medical waste is collected by a contracted medical waste hauler
and treated at the approved off site treatment facility.
SJPH Medical Waste Management Plan Page 1
6-30-2011
