And in Spanish: <br />"CUIDADO — ZONA DE RESIDUOS BIOLOGICOS <br />PELIGROSOS <br />PROHIBIDA LA ENTRADA A PERSONAS NO AUTORIZADAS." <br />Biohazard bags and filled sharps containers shall not be stored in Biohazardous Waste Storage <br />Bin for more than seven (7) days. <br />The waste hauler is responsible for cleaning all reusable rigid containers that are used for <br />accumulation, transportation and storage of medical waste. The containers shall be washed and <br />decontaminated before returning for use. <br />In the event a spill occurs during transport or storage at SJC Public Health the spill shall be <br />disinfected and cleaned up immediately. The Supervisor shall be notified to determine if there <br />has been an exposure to an employee. The approved method for decontamination is to contain <br />spill with absorbent disposable towels or other absorbent material and then to disinfect with a <br />fresh 1:10 solution of bleach. The solution should be allowed contact with the area for a <br />minimum of 3 minutes. The amount of solution mixed will be no more than can be used at any <br />one time. <br />All Medical Waste shall be picked up at least weekly by contracted medical waste hauler for <br />transport to the off-site treatment facility.
