Benjamin Escotto [EH]
From: Stacy Pinola <spinola@deltacollege.edu>
Sent: Wednesday, October 16, 2013 11:00 AM
To: Benjamin Escotto [EH]
Subject: RE: SJDC Bio Hazard Signs
Thank you...
From: Benjamin Escotto [EH] [mailto:bescotto()sjcehd.com]
Sent: Tuesday, October 15, 2013 4:19 PM
To: Stacy Pinola
Subject: RE: SJDC Bio Hazard Signs
Hello Stacy,
Yes you can put that at the bottom of the sign. According to the Medical Waste Management Act,Section 118307,the
minimum requirement is that the doors be labeled with the biohazard symbol that is visible from 5 feet away. So as long
as the biohazard symbol is on all the appropriate doors, you can add signage that further clarifies what is inside.
Also I spoke with my supervisor, Robert McClellon, about Emerald Energy. We are okay with SJ Delta College using
Emerald Energy to dispose of the laboratory waste (petri dishes). With that said, if SJ Delta College wishes to dispose of
other types of waste besides petri dishes with Emerald Energy, it is recommended that you contact me first. Contact me
with any further questions.
Ben Escotto,Senior RENS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E. This is why the stickers were removed
from the doors last year when I put them up.
When I have signs made, can I put on the bottom of the sign "Bio Hazard container inside"?
Stacy
Stacy Pinola
Facilities Planner/
Environmental/Grounds Manager
San Joaquin Delta College
SISI Pacific Ave
i
