SATELLITE SAtttLIIf, re <br /> SUBJECT: MEDICAL AND HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT OVERVIEW <br /> ORIGINAL DATE: 10/07/05 LATEST REVISION: 12/10/07 Page 1 of 2 <br /> MANUAL: Safety SECTION: Medical and Hazardous Waste Plan <br /> WRITTEN BY: Clark Austin, CHT <br /> APPROVED BY: <br /> Safety/Worker's Comp Specialist <br /> PURPOSE: To comply with federal, state and local regulatory <br /> agencies in the disposal of waste <br /> RESPONSIBILITY: All Satellite Healthcare Personnel <br /> REQUIRED Y: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), <br /> Department of Transportation (DOT), Centers for <br /> Disease Control (CDC), various state and federal <br /> laws and regulations <br /> POLICY: <br /> It is Satellite Healthcare's policy to: <br /> • Establish, implement, monitor and document evidence of an ongoing program for <br /> medical and hazardous waste management. <br /> • Ensure that these wastes are handled and disposed of in accordance with the above- <br /> stated regulatory agencies. <br /> • Ensure there are minimal risk to patients, staff, visitors, and the community within the <br /> Company's freestanding dialysis facilities. <br /> • Identify hazardous and medical waste and materials from facility's point of entry to the <br /> point of final disposal. <br /> • Delineate a system for safely managing hazardous and medical materials and wastes <br /> after they have been identified. <br /> • Annually review, revise and approve all policies and procedures related to hazardous <br /> and medical materials and waste. <br /> • Provide adequate training and super vision of all employees who work in the clinical <br /> setting regarding their duties and responsibilities working with and handling hazardous <br /> and medical materials and wastes. <br /> CONTROL: <br /> The control of all hazardous and medical materials and waste within the dialysis clinic <br /> setting will be done by one of the following methods: <br />
