California Health& Safety Code: Medical Waste Management Act Sections <br /> 117600 - 118360 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION: <br /> This plan is written in accordance to the Cal/OSHA Medical Waste <br /> Management Act. The following plan has been developed by American <br /> Medical Response (AMR) Safety and Risk Management (SRM) <br /> Department and your local Operations for your awareness and safety. <br /> Mike Robinson, Supervisor and Safety Officer/Coordinator will be <br /> responsible for implementation of this plan. <br /> 2.0 PURPOSE: <br /> To eliminate or minimize employee occupational exposure to blood and / <br /> or Other Potentially Infected Materials and to comply with the Cal/OSHA <br /> Medical Waste Management Act Sections 117600— 118360. <br /> 3.0 FACILITY IDENTIFICATION: <br /> 3.1 American Medical Response Operations of San Joaquin County has <br /> been identified as a large Quantity Generator of Infectious Waste / <br /> Medical Waste and has a responsibility for filing with the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, this Medical <br /> Waste Management Plan <br /> 4.0 IMPLEMENTATION METHODS: <br /> 4.1 Cal/OSHA also requires that this plan include the methods of implementation for <br /> the various requirements of the standard. Universal precautions will be observed <br /> at American Medical Response (AMR) in order to prevent contact with blood or <br /> Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM). All blood and OPIM will be <br /> considered infectious regardless of the perceived status of the source individual. <br /> 1 <br />
