s1- <br /> at the end of each day. <br /> Y <br /> III. Waste Disposal - Infectious <br /> A. All "sharps" are considered infectious. These include <br /> lancets , capillary tubes, TB tine tests and needles . <br /> They are disposed of by putting them in red plastic infec- <br /> tious containers. The containers are autoclaved when <br /> full and then may be put into the regular trash. <br /> IV. Cold Disinfection of Instruments <br /> A. Scissors may be disinfected in "Amerse" solution by the <br /> the following method: <br /> Prepare solution by adding 1 stroke (h mark) from pump, <br /> to one pint of water ( 16 oz . ) <br /> Thoroughly clean instruments in soap & water - rinse. <br /> Complete immerse instruments in pan in solution for 10 <br /> minutes . <br /> Rinse and dry. <br /> Clean scissors & speculums may be stored in Amerse solution <br /> for up to one week. <br /> The pan must be covered. Amerse solution should be changed <br /> weekly after thoroughly cleaning the soaking pan. <br /> V. Equipment <br /> A. Autoclave <br /> The autoclave shall be tested with Kilit Ampules . <br /> monthly and a record of the results. of these tests shall <br /> be maintained. <br /> Medi-Puls packaging shall be used for autoclaving. <br /> The word "steam" appears when the package is properly <br /> sterilized. <br /> Each package shall be marked with the date of sterili- <br /> zation and shall be considered sterile for a period of <br /> 6 months . <br /> Sterilization of infectious sharps shall be accom- <br /> plished by autoclaving the red plastic sharps containers <br /> and documenting the date and autoclave temperative. A <br /> record of this procedures shall be maintained. <br /> Autoclave shall be calibrated annually. <br /> B. Incubator <br /> The incubator shall be maintained at a constant tem- <br /> perature between 35°-36° . The thermometer shall be checked <br /> �- weekly and recorded. " <br /> z. <br />
