Channel Street, Room 440
Stockton, CA 95202
Dear Carol,
Pursuant to our telephone conversation on Thursday, January 27, 1994, 1 followed up on
the complaint you received from Dr. Barnett regarding his medical waste fee. I phoned
Dr. Barnett regarding the complaint and he stated that he did not treat medical waste and
he wanted to know why he was being charged an annual fee for a permit to do so. I told
him that he registered as a medical waste treatment facility in 1991. He explained that
all of his medical waste is hauled off by a registered medical waste hauler. I informed him
that he would receive a refund for the three years he paid for his medical waste permit.
He also mentioned that his medical waste hauling company has changed owners and
their prices have gone up so he wanted to know if there were any alternatives to this
company. I told him that I could send him a list of medical waste haulers that work in the
area. I also indicated that I would provide him with a list of medical waste disposal
alternatives that do not require a permit from this office or a registered medical waste
hauler. I told him that if he had any other questions or concerns to contact me at (209)
468-3451.
Sincerely,
- "3&
Kasey Foley
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
A Division of San,Joaquin County Health Care Services
