List the types of Medical Waste generated at your facility <br /> • Sharps (needles, syringes, blades etc.) <br /> • Pharmaceutical waste <br /> 2. Estimate the monthly amount of medical waste generated at your facility <br /> • Kaiser Permanente Stockton generates approximately 0 (average of Jan through <br /> Dec 2009)pounds/month. This facility has not generated medical waste prior to <br /> October 1, 2010. <br /> 3. Describe the medical waste handling procedures utilized by and applicable to <br /> your facility <br /> (a) Onsite location and method for segregation, containment, packaging, labeling, <br /> and collection <br /> • All medical waste is separated and disposed at the point of origin. <br /> • Waste will be contained in either red bag and/or ridged containers with lids. <br /> • Waste will be labeled on all side and top to be visible from any lateral direction. <br /> • Reusable rigid containers are used to transport medical waste from the department <br /> to the waste hauler for pick-up. <br /> • All containers shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. <br /> The following materials are classified as Labeling Procedures <br /> medical/biohazardous waste. <br /> Sharps Waste-Any discarded device that was used in patient <br /> care, medical research, or an industrial laboratory and is <br /> capable of puncturing or cutting the skin. Examples include: "Sharps Waste", or the <br /> needles; syringes with needles attached; trocars; pipettes; Biohazard symbol and <br /> scalpel blades; blood vials; broken or unbroken glassware that the word <br /> has been in contact with infectious agents, including serum "BIOHAZARD" <br /> bottles, slides, and cover slips. <br /> Non-RCRA Pharmaceutical wastes—waste pharmaceuticals Marked with an <br /> which are not federally hazardous (non-RCRA), radioactive or "Incineration Only" <br /> classified as municipal solid waste (trash). sticker. <br /> Revised March 30,2010 <br /> Plan maintained by Stockton EVS&EH&S Department <br />
