EXPANDED INITIAL STUDY <br /> A. INTRODUCTION <br /> This Expanded Initial Study has been prepared to <br /> augment the information provided in the preceding <br /> standard City of Stockton Initial Study application <br /> forms. <br /> The following report attempts to provide a detailed <br /> description of the subject projects, identify potential <br /> short and long term environmental impacts, and discuss <br /> alternative mitigation measures to minimize adverse <br /> impacts. <br /> B. PROJECT INFORMATION <br /> 1. General <br /> The proposed project is a special use permit for <br /> the development of a Kaiser Permanente Medical <br /> Center on an approximate 25 acre site in north <br /> Stockton. The site location is shown in Figure 1. <br /> Also proposed is a Parcel Map ( Figure 2 ) which <br /> will merge the 21 separate parcels which currently <br /> make up the site and abandon the included street <br /> rights-of-way and certain specified public utility <br /> easements. The project site bordered by West Lane <br /> on the east , Hammertown Drive on the south , Tam <br /> O ' Shanter Drive on the west, and Tommydon Street <br /> on the north. <br /> a. Proposed Uses <br /> The project calls for development of 136,000 <br /> square feet of medical offices housing 180 <br /> doctors over the next 20 years . Also <br /> included would be a hospital with a total of <br /> 200 beds in a building with 238 , 735 square <br /> feet of floor space . The parking lot <br /> facility would include a total of 1 ,512 <br /> spaces for all of the facilities on the site. <br /> Kaiser-Permanente Centers typically include <br /> numerous specialty clinics . Each medical <br /> center provides routine care and urgent care <br /> for outpatients as well as care for in- <br /> patients through a membership program in <br /> which monthly membership fees are paid by <br /> each subscriber , or subscriber ' s employer. <br /> Outpatient care is generally handled in the <br /> medical offices while inpatient care is <br /> generally handled in the hospital .
