California Regional Water Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region
3443 utier Road, Suite A, Sacramento, Califo 5827
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
and
Notice of Application for Revised Waste Discharge Requirements
(National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit)
for
THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY
DEFENSE DISTRIBUTION REGION WEST
SHARPE LOCATION
INTERIM GROUND WATER CLEANUP SYSTEM
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
The Department of Defense has applied to renew its permit to discharge treated ground water to the South San Joaquin
Irrigation Canal which empties into French Camp slough. The existing discharge is regulated by Waste Discharge
Requirements Order No. 87-026, NPDES No. CA0081931, which regulates the discharge from the North Balloon and
South Balloon ground water treatment systems. A new ground water treatment system for the Central Area has been
constructed and the effluent from this system may be commingled with the existing effluent and discharged to the
irrigation canal. The proposed permit limits pollutant levels in the discharge and requires a study of the possible
impacts of less prevalent pollutants.
The public hearing concerning this matter will be held:
DATE: 8 December 1995
TIME: 8:30 a.m.
PLACE: Air Resources Board, Hearing Room, Lower Level
2020 L Street, Sacramento
Persons wishing to comment on or object to the proposed order are invited to submit same in writing to the Regional
Board no later than 1 December 1995. All comments or objections received by this date will be considered.
Additional pertinent information, concerning the adoption of the Waste Discharge Requirements, may be received by
the Board upon the request of any interested person at the meeting. After considering comments or objections, the
Board may adopt waste discharge requirements. Any action of the Board may be appealed to the State Water Resources
Control Board within 30 days of the action.
Anyone having questions on these requirements should contact the project representative, Paul Marshall, at
(916) 255-3080. The proposed requirements and related documents may be inspected and copied at the Regional
Board's office at 3443 Routier Road, Suite A, Sacramento, California, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. by
appointment.
Please bring the above information to the attention of anyone you know who would be interested in this matter.
r_
CK E.
