s
•
The following is a brief summary of selected figures presented in the initial draft
RI/FS report that have a bearing on the interpretation of contaminant distribution and
transport. These should be compared with the figures in Attachments C -I through C-5.
The summary is followed by U.S. EPA's comments related to interpretation of both
the figures in the initial draft RI/FS report and in Attachments C-1 through C-5.
Summary of Figures from the initial draft RI/FS report
■ Figures 5.4.1-8 through 5.4.1-10 represent the piezometric and potentio-
metric surfaces for the A, B, and C zones, respectively, in January 1988.
M Figures 5.5.3-1 through 5.5.3-3 show actual TCE results from dewatering
wells completed in the A, B, and C zones, respectively, compared with the
predicted 100 ppb TCE plume contour. The data appear to be from
samples collected in October 1986.
a Figures 6.1.1-14 through 6.1.1-16 are contour plots showing SHAD'S
interpretation of the extent of the TCE and total VOC (TVOC) plumes in
the A, B, and C zones, respectively, in the South Balloon. Concentrations
are based on analytical results from samples collected by ESE in January
1988.
a Figures 6.1.2-7 through 6.1.2-9 are contour plots of the TCE and TVOC
plumes in the North Balloon. The data are from the January 1988 samples
collected by ESE for the A, B, and C zones.
a Figures 6.1.5-2 through 6.1.5-4 are contour plots of the TCE data collected
by ESE in January 1988, for the entire base. The plots are from data
generated by a kriging program.
14
