J -M Manufacturing Company, Inc.
f 1051 Sperry Road, Stockton, California 95206 • Tel.:(209) 982-1500 • Telex:359491 • Telecopier:(209) 465-8184
February 22, 1988
Ms. Antonia Vorster
Senior Water Resources Control Engineer
CA Regional Water Quality Control Board
Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
RE: PERMIT APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Dear Ms. Vorster:
We are planning to close/modify the following waste disposal sites.
Please advise us whether permits are required.
1. To permanently close the existing on-site landfill of our
A/C (Asbestos -Cement) pipe wastes.
2. To permanently close one existing pond used to be a wastewater
settling pond for our A/C pipe operations.
3. To permanently close part of another existing pond used to be
a wastewater settling pond for our A/C pipe operations. The
remaining part of this pond will be modified and used as an
evaporation pond to receive occasional discharges of processing
water from our PVC pipe manufacturing process.
4. One existing pit (with concrete walls) used to be a "buffer pit"
to receive wastewater discharges from the A/C pipe operations,
now we plan to use it as a "buffer pit" for the occasional
discharges of processing water from our PVC pipe operations.
It appears to me that some or all of the above operations may not
require permits. Please examine the above cases. If permits are
required, please send us the necessary permit application forms
and the related instruction sheets.
Sincerely yours,
} alp c 4
I
Dr. E. E.
