Box 4025 Sacramento, California 95812 Subject: Waste Volume Estimates Santa Fe Road Disposal Sites San Joaquin County, California Dear Mr. Macanas: In October 2002, Ninyo & Moore personnel provided the California Integrated Waste Manage- ment Board (CIWMB) environmental consulting services including assistance with the exploration and logging of trench excavations at the Santa Fe Road Disposal Sites (SFRDS). Trenches were excavated primarily to characterize and assess, to the extent possible, the loca- tions and extent of buried wastes. The information obtained was intended to assist the CIWMB with evaluating potential remedial action alternatives, as necessary. A total of 69 exploration trenches were excavated at the SFRDS which includes four illegal disposal sites (IDS) referred to as the Lynch IDS, Beard IDS, Lane IDS and Waller Property. In March 2003, the CIWMB requested order -of -magnitude volume estimates of buried wastes at the waste disposal sites based on information obtained from the October 2002 field investigation. This letter -report provides rough order -of -magnitude volume estimates of buried wastes based on the limited site investigation performed at the subject sites. Waste volume estimates were arrived at by compiling information from the trench logs onto a waste summary table (Table 1). The types of buried wastes, locations, and depth information from Table 1 were used to develop a GIS database.
