Project Purpose
The objective of this investigation is to characterize and to the extent possible, assess the
locations (depth and extent) and types of buried wastes within the study area, referred to as the
Santa Fe Road Disposal Sites. This data will be obtained by performing an intrusive
investigation using conventional drilling methods and trench excavating to evaluate the depths
and extent of buried wastes and collecting representative samples for analytical testing to
characterize the wastes. The data will assist with evaluating remedial alternatives, as
applicable, and determining the necessity for additional cover or reconfiguration of the wastes
that may be required to protect human health and the environment. The CIWMB in conjunction
with their environmental consultant Ninyo and Moore (N&M) will generally perform the following:
➢ Advance borings and excavate trenches at appropriate locations and depths to
• evaluate the extent of buried wastes,
1-9
