MAXIM
CATALYTIC EXHAUST SILENCERS
® Using proven and economical rare metal pellet technology
• An economical solution to emission regulations
-- The Maxim Advantage —
NOx —Typical expected reductions are 90%+.
CO — Model MCSR will reduce 50 to 80% of the CO, depending on A/F ratio, while eliminating over
90%of the NOx.Maxim MCSO will remove almost all the CO on oxidizing applications.
EXCELLENT SILENCING — Unlike honeycomb substrate which gives little or no silencing, Maxim
catalytic silencers provide semi-residential noise control comparable to our M31. When used in
conjunction with our MFT or TRP exhaust heat recovery units, hospital critical silencing is
achieved with no auxiliary silencers.
LONG LIFE— Primary factors which limit life are catalyst poisons(sulfur, phosphorus and silicon). Effect.
of poisons on catalyst life is independent of substrate form.
ECONOMICAL — All catalytic units require periodic recharge. Servicing the MAXIM catalytic silencer is
quick, easy, comparatively inexpensive and requires no dismantling of the exhaust system.
Quick and Easy - Let the catalytic silencer cool down and open the evacuation ports on the
bottom of the unit. Remove the old pellets. Replace the ports and pour fresh catalyst into the
renewal ports on top of the unit. There is no need to disassemble or remove the unit or to handle
fragile and expensive honeycomb catalyst assemblies.
INEXPENSIVE — The Maxim supplied catalyst pellets are considerably less expensive than monolith
honeycomb catalysts. Cost to recharge our catalytic silencer is approximately 50% of total
package. On competitive units, the cost of the recharge can cost as much as 100% of the
original cost. Inexpensive because substrate and catalyst are already being mass produced for
use in automobile, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
MODEL MCSR —
Reduce NOx and CO from natural gas engines with a stoichiometric exhaust mixture. Materials
of construction are corrosion resistant. Includes high temperature shutdown monitor.
MODEL MCSO —
Reduce CO and HC in exhaust streams with excess oxygen. Corrosion resistant materials of
construction.Optional high temperature shutdown monitor.
C/14
