WORK PLAN FOR GAS PROBE INSTALLATION <br /> AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This work plan is for the installation of 13 gas probes at the <br /> Austin Road Landfill, San Joaquin County, California. Preparation <br /> of this work plan was authorized by the City of Stockton. <br /> This work plan was prepared by the Environmental Services Division <br /> of The Twining Laboratories, Inc. (Twining) in Modesto, California. <br /> 2 .0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> The purpose of this project is to install 13 soil gas probes to a <br /> depth of approximately 18 feet below site grade (BSG) . Twining <br /> understands that the probes are intended to be used for quarterly <br /> soil gas monitoring in compliance with Subtitle D of the Resource <br /> Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) . The following scope of work <br /> is proposed to achieve the above referenced objective: <br /> 0 Drill 13 soil borings to 20 feet below site grade (BSG) and <br /> collect soil samples for lithology purposes; <br /> 0 Complete borings as gas monitoring probes using 1/4-inch <br /> outside diameter, 3/16-inch inside diameter Tef lon2m tubing for <br /> sampling; <br /> 0 Measure initial methane concentrations; and <br /> 0 Prepare a report documenting field activities with a site <br /> location map, site plan showing probe locations, final boring <br /> logs, and probe construction diagrams . <br /> 3.0 BACKGROUND <br /> A description of the site, the geologic and hydrologic <br /> characteristics, and the project history are summarized in the <br /> following subsections. <br /> 3 . 1 Site Description <br /> The Austin Road Landfill (site) , a municipal waste collection <br /> center, is located southeast of the city of Stockton, California <br /> immediately west of the intersection of Littlejohns Creek and <br /> Austin Road (Drawing 1) . The site is located in the north half of <br /> Section 3, Township 1 South, Range 7 East. <br />
