TABLE S.1: SUMMARY OF IMPACTS AND MITIGATION MEASURES (Continued)
Environmental Impact Mitigation Measure Level of Significance After Mitigation
L. Public Health and Safety(Cont.)
(d) Additional engineering controls should be
implemented by the site operator,if needed, to
control dust emissions. Such controls might
include wind screens near the unloading areas or
the use of dust suppressants.
(e) If the above engineering controls cannot reduce
employee dust exposure below an acceptable
level as determined by the LEA,site personnel at
risk should be supplied with gloves, coveralls,
eye protection,and respirators.
(f) Wastes must not leave the landfill site on
workers clothing. This EIR suggests the
following measures:
• working clothes should be left behind at the
landfill and cleaned by the operator;
• shower facilities and changing areas should
be provided at the project site so that
workers do not carry material off-site;and
• dust accumulated on non-washable items
should be removed by vacuuming,not
brushing or blowing.
(g) Workers should not be allowed to eat near the
active landfill.
S.28
