i
July 31, 1995
Mr. Mike Miller
Department of Public Works
City of Stockton
Stockton,California 95202-1997
Dear Mr. Miller
Subject: Revised Site Life Estimate for Austin Road Landfill Expansion
The purpose of this letter report is to revise the site life projection estimate for the Austin
Road Landfill expansion previously presented in Table 1-2 of the Final Design Study
Report (FDSR) dated June 1993. The site life projections have been modified, based on the
projected waste quantities and site life estimate for existing facility in Table 1 of the Austin
Road Landfill Preliminary Closure and Post-Closure Plan (Attachment 1) dated May, 1993.
The primary change has been the extension of the final closure of the existing landfill from
year 1998 to year 2002 due to a reduction in annual landfill tonnage with the
implementation of AB 939.
Table 1 of this letter report shows the revised site life estimates for each phase of the Austin
Road Landfill expansion. The revised site life estimate is based on the following
assumptions:
■ Starting year of Phase 1 will be 2002. (See Attachment 1)
■ Annual net landfill tonnage after waste stream recycling and diversion to other
landfills for Year 2002 is 117,000 tons. (See Attachment 1)
■ Annual growth rate in refuse tonnage will be 1.5%.
■ In-place refuse density is 1250 LB./CY.
■ inplace refuse volume to daily/intermediate soil cover ratio is 4:1.
File: WW-1811-CAl-AA/3110
0A1nghamWILI034.DOC
2101 Fourth.-\xenue.
