Good morning
Introduce self
Our department is not here to oppose the permit revision. However, on behalf of San
Joaquin County and the residents of the unincorporated areas, many of whom are on
private water wells, we have comments regarding the expansion of a landfill where
groundwater contamination has already migrated off site. In September 1997,the City of
Stockton provided us with reports showing that two private wells near the landfill are
contaminated with organic chemicals.
According to the staff report, we understand the City is working with the RWQCB to
address the groundwater contamination issues.
Our only comments are that we request the groundwater corrective action plan address
the off-site private wells and that should the landfill be sold, a responsible party will be
required to continue the groundwater remediation.
Thank you
