Austin Road Landfill Appendix D
Contaminant Plume Characterization Report Aquifer Test Methods
The K value of the deeper aquifer derived from test results of wells MW-6 and MW-7 is
approximately 105 ft/d. The aquifer K values calculated from these wells are affected by partial
penetration effects of from the pumping wells,as discussed below. Therefore, the actual K value in
the deeper aquifer is likely higher than this average calculated value.
The aquifer storage coefficient(S)values from pumping phase tests ranked as fair or good range
from 10-3 to 10-'with an average S value of approximately 4 x 10'. S values in this range are
indicative of semi-confined to fully confined aquifer condition(Fetter,1988). A review of the
borehole geologic logs and water levels indicates that the water surface is above the sandy aquifer
layer in most of the wells, with a silty clay to clay layer overlying the sand aquifer. Thus, the
interpretation of semi-confined to confined aquifer conditions, based on the aquifer test results,is
consistent with the water level and stratigraphic data from the site.
AdOhL
®
CDM Camp Dresser&McKee CS 010861 D-14
W;ViEPORTS\STOCKTOMARLPLUME.98\APPD.WPD City of Stockton Igms-o0
