4.4 SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PROCEDURES
The gas probes were sampled on February 25, 1988, 2 months after they
were installed. Before a Sample was collected, two well volumes were
purged from the probe'
An OVA and Ga3T8Ch were used to measure the sample's total organic
concentration as methane. The OVA is a factory -calibrated instrument
(see section 5'I.1). The GasT8ch was calibrated in the office as
discussed in Section 5'1'1.
4.6 RESULTS
Table 6 lists the total organic concentration measured as methane and
the sampling information for each probe. No organic vapors were
detected in Probe P-1 (3 ppm detection limit). Probe P-2 contained
2 ppm total organics measured as methane. Probe P-1 is within 50 feet
west of the fill area and is located between the fill area and the
manager's residence. Probe P-2 is over 400 feet north of the fill
area On the northwest property line. Organic vapors measured as
methane were detected at 24 and 9 percent by volume at Probes P-3 and
P-4, respectively. Probes P-3 and P-4 are located within 50 feet east
and south Of the fill area.
PJg 9390405'U0D 4-2 Rev' 0 09/07/88
