Road.
Several siltation basins will be constructed along the landfill
perimeter as shown on sheet 2 of the Preliminary Closure Plan drawings.
Storm drainage flows for the 100 year event will not be much greater
than the existing storm flows because of the facts that (1) the
development grades for the site mirror the existing topography (2) the
final design slopes of 3% to 6% are similar to the slopes of the
existing topography, and (3) the final design stream flow routing will
be similar to the existing.
Details on the storm drainage system design for the landfill are
contained in Appendix C of the January 1995 Preliminary Closure Plan.
IV. HYDROGEOLOGY
In June 1990, J.H. Kle'infelder & Associates prepared the Solid Waste
Water Quality Assessment Test report (SWWQAT) for San Joaquin County for
the Foothill Sanitary Landfill. This report, which is referenced as
Appendix E (bound separately due to its large size) , was submitted to
the RWQCB and LEA in June 1990.
A. Regional Hydrogeologic Setting:
The hydrogeologic setting is described in the SWWQAT for the site. As
stated in that report, it appears that the first zone of groundwater
occurs at an elevation of 501 to 1001 mean sea level (MSL) in the
vicinity of the landfill. The average elevation of the ground surface
in this area is 2501 to 3001 MSL.
It was determined by Kleinfelder, during both the 1985 and 1990 studies
performed at the site, that the direction of groundwater flow is not
well known in the area. However, based on the regional information
available from depth measurements taken during both studies, it was
concluded that the most probable direction of groundwater flow beneath
the site is south to southwest. This has been reinforced by recent
quarterly groundwater monitoring being performed by EMCON.
B. Field Investigation:
1. Exploratory Borings and Well Logs:
Exploratory borings were performed by J.H. Kleinfelder and
Associates as part of the geologic investigation performed at the
landfill in May 1985. The resulting report (Kleinfelder 1985) ,
which contains information on logs and locations of borings is
contained in Appendix E of the 1995 RDSI and RWD for the site.
Logs for the groundwater monitoring wells are included as Appendix
G of the March 1995 RDSI and RWD.
Auk
15
