One VOC (Toluene)was reported this quarter. This detection is less than the three reported the
previous quarter.
A Constituents of Concern Scan was conducted (Table 2)this quarter for well MW-6. Seventeen
constituents were reported. Sixteen were reported as trace concentrations;just one was higher than
the reporting limit. The COC scan testing for the first wells,MW-1 and MW-2, that were installed
to sample to the deep aquifer also indicated similar concentrations of dissolved metals.
MW-7:
Well MW-7 was also sampled for the second time in October. Concentrations of inorganic
constituents are within expected ranges (Table 2). There were no VOCs reported this quarter, in
contrast to the three reported the previous quarter.
The Constituents of Concern Scan indicated the presence of fourteen constituents (Table 2). Eleven
were reported as trace concentrations; three were higher than the reporting limit.
Surface Water
"First storm"water samples for the 2003 -2004 storm season have not been taken due to lack of
runoff during the fourth quarter 2003 monitoring event. First storm samples will be retrieved when
flow is sufficient.
GROUNDWATER DIRECTION AND FLOW RATE
Shallow Aquifer
Groundwater elevations at wells SB-1,MW-4,MW-5 and PZ-1 indicate that groundwater flow in
the shallow water-bearing zone was bi-directional, to the northwest and to the southeast from well
SB-1 (Figure 2).
The average calculated groundwater velocity to the northwest between SB-1 and MW-5 is 1.51 ft/yr
based on a gradient of 0.0054 foot per foot. The average calculated groundwater velocity to the
southeast between SB-1 and MW-4 is 1.94 ft/yr based on a gradient of 0.0069 foot per foot
(Appendix G).
' Deep Aquifer
The groundwater elevations at MW-6 and MW-7 indicate that groundwater flow is northeasterly
from MW-7 to MW-6 (Figure 3). The average calculated groundwater velocity is 1.11 ft/yr based on
a gradient of 0.0040 foot per foot(Appendix G).
Corral Hollow Landfill 6 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
4T"Qtr/Annual 2003 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin-January 28,2004
