The County will continue to monitor groundwater at Foothill Landfill in
accordance with the current Waste Discharge Requirements while the EMP is under review by
Board staff.
First and Second Quarter Monitoring and Reporting Program 2002 Report Review
First Quarter Report:
The first quarter laboratory results reported several Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in
trace amounts. Because most of these compounds were also reported in either a lab, field, and/or
trip blanks, these are considered false positive results, not detection of groundwater
contamination. Although we note that the rate of false detections is below 5 percent allowed in
Tile 27 (Section 21415 (e) 7 A), we agree that vigilance against false detections must remain
high at all times. The County has discussed these false VOC detections with EMCON, and has
emphasized the importance of following the approved Sampling and Analysis Procedures.
u
u
0
0
I
u
