INTRODUCTION
General
' San Joaquin County is submitting this second semester 2003 monitoring report for the Foothill
Sanitary Landfill(FSL) in compliance with Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) Order
No. R5-2003-0020.
The FSL is located in eastern San Joaquin County on Waverly Road, four miles east of Linden,
CA(Figure 1). Land uses within 1,000 feet of the facility are agricultural. The vicinity receives
' an average of about 18 inches of precipitation per year.
The Foothill Sanitary Landfill is a single Class III Waste Management Unit on an 800-acre parcel
' comprised of Module"I" and Module 1. Future modules will overlap onto the completed modules
and filled until final closure of the Unit. The size of future modules will be selected in accordance
with the refuse disposal rate.
The total capacity of the landfill is approximately 102 million cubic yards. The active life of the
facility is estimated to allow disposal until year 2050,based on current disposal rates and
capacities (Table 1). The estimated service life will change if disposal rates differ significantly
than those predicted.
TABLE I
SECOND SEMESTER 2003 MONTHLY REFUSE DISPOSAL
FOOTHILL SANITARY LANDFILL
MONTH REFUSE DISPOSAL
' (TONS)
July 25,688
August 24,936
September 24,988
1 October 24,320
November 22,952
' December 23,069
I ,
Foothill Sanitary Landfill I Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
2N0 Semester/Annual 2003 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin-Revised June 29,2004
