C]
File No. 24-2206-01.A06
January 2, 1991
REPORT
GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION
PROPOSED FOOTHILL LANDFILL EXPANSION
SAN JOAOUIN COUNTY, CALIrORNLIA
KLEINFELDER
INTRODUCTION
In this report are presented the
results of
an initial
geotechnical
investigation performed for the
design of
Phase
I of the Foothill
Sanitary Landfill located on Waverly
Road
south
of Shelton Road in
San Joaquin County, California.
A plot
plan
and vicinity map
showing the approximate location
of the proposed
area are presented
on Plate A-1.
C7
The County intends to design the next landfill unit in the
currently active Phase I area. The next landfill unit is proposed
to have a liner which is required to have a coefficient of
permeability of less than 1 x 10-6 cm/sec to comply with Title 23,
Chapter 15, or an engineered alternative approved by the Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF INVESTIGATION
The purpose of our geotechnical investigation has been to explore
and evaluate the surface and underlying soils within the
undisturbed areas of Phase I and to assess soils for a low
permeability "clay" liner. Our services also included providing
data to aid in selection of a liner design for the next landfill
unit. The scope of our services was approved by the County under
an "Agreement for Consulting Engineering Services," dated September
Copyright 1991 KLeinfelder, Inc. 1
