In fact,no VOCs have been reported since October 2002 at Foothill Sanitary Landfill, with the
exception of"false positives"due to contamination during or after sampling.
As discussed in our last monitoring report,we have returned to semi-annual groundwater monitoring due
to this consistent non-detection.
Surface water was sampled this semester. Impact by the landfill was not indicated by the results of these
analyses.
Soil gas VOC monitoring continues on a semi-annual basis, in accordance with the WDRs.
This report also contains a photograph and figure showing the survey and staking of the edge of the liner
on the southern side of the landfill where leachate risers do not mark that feature.
If you have any questions, please call John Corey,Engineer III,at(209)468-3066.
Sincerely,
W.MICHAEL CARROLL,PE
Senior Civil Engineer
WMC:sc
NAIFoothill\Groundwater Monitoring\Repts2005\1stSem051etter.doc
Enclosure
c: Robert McClellon,Environmental Health Department
LA 31610
