SECTION 8 SECTION 8. MATERIALS 8-1.01 GENERAL.--Attention is directed to Section 6, "Control of Materials," of the Standard Specifications and these special provisions. 8-1.02 CONTROL OF MATERIAL.--A minimum of one week prior to hauling materials, the Contractor shall submit in writing, a statement describing the material sources and the intended haul routes for all contract items. This statement will not be required for contract items of quantities less than 170 C.Y. or 200 Tons. The Engineer reserves the right to change haul routes at any time according to the best interest of the County. If the Engineer changes a haul route, an adjustment will be made in the contract unit price of the items affected. The adjustment in the contract unit price of the items affected shall be done by change order prior to any hauling. Any hauling done without a contract change order, regardless of routes used, shall be done at the original contract price and no adjustment shall be made. Adjustment will be based on Public Utilities Commission rates and the price of the item in question will be increased or decreased in relation to,the change in the length of the one-way haul to the job. Only one way to the job mileage will be considered and no allowance will be made for the condition of the roadway. If the new route leads through a congested area within the corporate limits of a city, an adjustment in the unit price of the affected item may be made on a time basis. 8-1.03 WEIGHING MATERIALS.—Attention is directed to Section 9, "Measurement and Payment,"of the Standard Specifications and these special provisions. The cost shall be considered as included in other contract items of work, and no further allowance shall be made therefor. In no event will County pay for any portion of a load of material which is in excess of the legal load limit for the vehicle transporting it. The payment for the weight of all material in excess of legal load limits will be deducted from the contract pay quantity for that specific material. 8-1 (SPECSIMASTEf21C0-8-1)
