COLUMBIA ANALYTICAL SERVICES, INC.
Client: Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. Service Request No.: P0600115
Project: Foothill Hollow Landfill/791289 (Leachate Module) Date Received: 2/2/07
Sample Matrix: Water
CASE NARRATIVE
All analyses were performed consistent with the quality assurance program of Columbia Analytical Services, Inc. (CAS). This report
contains analytical results for samples designated for Tier II data deliverables. When appropriate to the method, method blank results
have been reported with each analytical test. Surrogate recoveries have been reported for all applicable organic analyses. Additional
quality control analyses reported herein include: Matrix/Duplicate Matrix Spike (MS/DMS), and Laboratory Control Sample (LCS).
Sample Receipt
The samples were received for analysis at Columbia Analytical Services on 2/2/07. Any discrepancies were noted upon initial
sample inspection, and recorded on the Client Notification Form included in this data package. The samples were received in
good condition and consistent with the accompanying chain of custody form. The samples were stored at 4°C upon receipt at the
laboratory.
Volatile Organic Compounds by EPA Method 8260B
Sample L-01 (P0700116-001) required dilution due to the presence of elevated levels of target analyte. The reporting limits are
adjusted to reflect the dilution.
Batch QC was run along with these samples. These results have been provided for informational purposes only. The upper control
criterion was exceeded for Trichlorofluoromethane in Laboratory Control Sample (LCS) PWG0700310-3. The analyte in question
was not detected in the associated field samples. The error associated with elevated recovery equates to a high bias. The sample data
is not significantly affected. No further corrective action was taken.
General Chemistry Parameters
The following sample was received and analyzed past the recommended holding time for Nitrate as Nitrogen: L-01 (P0700116-
001). The data has been flagged accordingly.
The Method Blank (MB) contained a trace hit of Chloride. The associated sample concentrations were greater than 20 times the
amount found in the MB; therefore, the data has not been significantly affected. No further corrective action was required.
Batch QC was run along with this sample. These results have been provided for informational purposes only. The Method
Blank and Laboratory Control Sample were within control criteria.
Approved by__ (lf _ G / Date 'i 1/'9
