F
The National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) is a
voluntary association of state and federal agencies (including EPA, DOD and
DOE) whose purpose is to establish and promote mutually acceptable
performance standards for the operation of environmental laboratories. NELAC
provides a standard for operational performance applicable to all laboratories
performing compliance testing for the SDWA, CWA, RCRA and CERCLA.
The goal of NELAC is to foster the generation of environmental laboratory data of
known and acceptable quality through the development of nationally accepted
standards for environmental laboratory accreditation. The standards accomplish
Page 10 of 29
17
LTJ
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM
CAS' comprehensive quality assurance program ensures that the quality of the data
produced by CAS laboratories will be known and documented and that the data will
be scientifically sound and legally defensible. Whether work is carried out in the
laboratory or in the field, CAS requires compliance with its written quality assurance
and quality control
(QA/QC) protocols. Each activity in the analytical process
including sampling, analysis, data review, report production, and report delivery
follow written procedures and is critical to quality data production. CAS' Corporate
Quality Assurance Director and each laboratory's Quality Assurance Program
Manager, have responsibility for CAS' QA program. Their responsibilities include
ensuring that sampling and analytical procedures are properly executed, sample
custodial protocols are complete, QC procedures are implemented and recorded,
and that only data of known and documented quality are reported. Each laboratory's
QA program is described in their Quality Assurance Manual. QA Manuals are
available for review upon request.
CERTIFICATIONS
CAS maintains a variety of certifications, accreditations, and approvals with federal
and state agencies and with other regulatory programs. With eight laboratories
located throughout the United States, CAS is certified or accredited to perform
environmental testing services in most states for air, drinking water, wastewater,
groundwater, solid, hazardous waste and underground storage tank programs.
Certificates are available upon request.
National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC)
The National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) is a
voluntary association of state and federal agencies (including EPA, DOD and
DOE) whose purpose is to establish and promote mutually acceptable
performance standards for the operation of environmental laboratories.
