r <br />Technology Development <br />Under the leadership of our Corporate Technical Director, CAS funds a technical <br />development effort charged with exploring innovative business approaches and <br />technologies that will lead CAS and our clients into the future. This program includes <br />our information technology group, which focuses on the automation of laboratory <br />systems and information delivery to its customers. <br />CAS prepares and conducts seminars and technical presentations on subjects <br />covering many areas. Client -specific seminars are available upon request. <br />DATA MANAGEMENT <br />CAS has successfully met the data management requirements of a wide variety of <br />projects for both government and private sector clients. Included in this section is a <br />description of our information system platform and electronic data deliverables. <br />System Platform <br />All CAS laboratories operate in a server/local area network (LAN) configuration. CAS <br />has standardized on Microsoft® (MS) Windows® applications (i.e., Word®, Excel(D, <br />Access®, and MS Exchange@), <br />Laboratory Information i <br />System Management S LIMS <br />5 Y <br />Our information technology group is in the process of replacing each laboratory's <br />current LIMS system, which will be implemented over the next two years. <br />The current primary LIMS operates in a wide area network (WAN) configuration with a <br />primary server and one linked site. The main system is located at the Kelso laboratory <br />and is linked to our Canoga Park laboratory. This enables CAS/Kelso and <br />CAS/Canoga Park to quickly share information and work more efficiently. Our current <br />primary LIMS has been developed by the customization of an Automated Compliance <br />Systems LIMS running on the Oracle® relational database management system <br />operating in a UNIX® environment. <br />u <br />0 <br />Page 27 of 29 <br />J <br />
