i F Technolaw Development ti Under the leadership of our Corporate Technical Director, CAS funds a technical development effort charged with exploring innovative business approaches and technologies that will lead CAS and our clients into the future. This program includes our information technology group, which focuses on the automation of laboratory systems and information delivery to its customers. CAS prepares and conducts seminars and technical presentations on subjects covering many areas. Client-specific seminars are available upon request. f DATA MANAGEMENT f i' CAS has successfully met the data management requirements of a wide variety of I projects for both government and private sector clients. Included in this section is a i description of our information system platform and electronic data deliverables. System Platform All CAS laboratories operate in a server/local area network (LAN) configuration. CAS has standardized on Microsoft® (MS) Windows® applications (i.e., Word®, Excel(D, F Access®,and MS Exchange®). Laboratory Information Management System(LIMS) i t Our information technology group is in the process of replacing each laboratory's } current LIMS system, which will be implemented over the next two years. The current primary LIMS operates in a wide area network (WAN) configuration with a primary server and one linked site. The main system is located at the Kelso laboratory and is linked to our Canoga Park laboratory. This enables CAS/Kelso and CAS/Canoga Park to quickly share information and work more efficiently. Our current primary LIMS has been developed by the customization of an Automated Compliance Systems LIMS running on the Oracle® relational database management system I operating in a UNIX®environment.
