tTgg
An
olumbia
2655 Park Center Drive, Suite A Simi Valley,California 93065 (805)526-7161 (805) 526-7270 faxAnalytical
Services
An Employee-Owned Company
Client: Shaw Environmental &Infrastructure,Inc. CAS Project No: P0800213
Project: Foothill Landfill, San Joaquin County/ 124591 (Ground Water)
CASE NARRATIVE
The sample(s) were received intact under chain of custody on. 02/07/08 and were stored in accordance
with the analytical method requirements. Please refer to the sample acceptance check form for additional
information. The results reported herein are applicable only to the condition of the sample(s) at the time
of sample receipt.
Volatile Organic Compounds by EPA Method 8260B
For QC purposes,a Laboratory Control Sample(LCS)was analyzed in duplicate.
The spike recoveries for several analytes in the Laboratory Control Samples (LCS/DLCS) identified as
PWG0800288-3 and PWG0800288-5 were outside the lower control criterion. The error associated with
reduced recovery equates to a potential low bias. The analytes in question were not detected in the
associated field samples; however, a Method Reporting Limit (MRL) check standard containing the
analytes of concern was analyzed and verified that instrument sensitivity was adequate to detect the
analytes at the MRL on the day of analysis. Because the sensitivity was shown to be adequate to detect
the compounds in question, the compounds were not detected in the field samples, data quality is not
significantly affected. No further corrective action was taken.
The upper control criterion was exceeded for sec-Butylbenzene in the Laboratory Control Samples
(LCS/DLCS) PWG0800288-3 and PWG0800288-5. The analyte in question was not detected in the
associated field samples. Since the error associated with the elevated recovery equates to a high bias, the
sample data has not been significantly affected. The data has been flagged accordingly. No corrective
action was taken.
Anions by EPA Method 300.0
The Laboratory Control Sample (LCS) for Chloride was outside the current laboratory acceptance limits
but within the method specified control limits; therefore, the data has been reported and flagged
accordingly.
The results of analyses areiven in the attached laboratory report. All results are intended to be
g y p
considered in their entirety, and Columbia Analytical Services, Inc. (CAS) is not responsible for
utilization of less than the complete report.
2
NELAP Accredited ACIL Seal of Excellence Award 0 100%0.,aea
