INTRODUCTION General This Second Semester and Annual 2009 Monitoring Report for the Foothill Sanitary Landfill (FSL)is submitted in compliance with Waste Discharge Requirements(WDR) Order No. R5-2003-0020. The FSL is located in eastern San Joaquin County at 6484 N. Waverly Road, four miles east of Linden, CA(Figure 1). Land uses within 1,000 feet of the facility are agricultural, primarily grazing. The vicinity receives an average of approximately 18 inches of precipitation per year. The FSL is a single Class III Waste Management Unit on an 800-acre parcel. This Unit is comprised of Module °I", Module 1, and future modules. Future modules will overlap onto other completed modules, including Module"I"until final closure of the Unit. The size of future modules will be selected in accordance with the refuse disposal rate. Waste discharged to the landfill includes commercial and household waste, construction/ demolition waste, and agricultural waste. Disposal in this semester occurred primarily over Module I (Figure 2). The total capacity of the landfill is approximately 102 million cubic yards. The active life of the facility is estimated to allow disposal at least until the year 2058,based on current disposal rates and capacities. The estimated service life will change if disposal rates differ significantly than those predicted. The quantity of waste placed during the reporting period is shown in Table 1. Groundwater elevations vary between approximately 46 and 61 feet MSL.
