K]
C
File No. 24-2206-01.A06
January 2, 1991
REPORT
GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION
PROPOSED FOOTHILL LILNDFILL EXPANSION
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
KLEINFELDER
INTRODUCT7CO T
In this report are presented the results of an initial geotechnical
investigation performed for the design of Phase I of the Foothill
Sanitary Landfill located on Waverly Road south of Shelton Road in
San Joaquin County, California. A plot plan and vicinity man
showing the approximate location of the proposed area are presented
on Plate A-1.
The County intends to design the next landfill unit in the
currently active Phase I area. The next landfill unit is proposed
to have a liner which is required to have a coefficient of
permeability of less than 1 x 10-6 cm/sec to comply with Title 23,
Chapter 15, or an engineered alternative approved by the Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RY4QCB). °
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF INVESTIGATION
The purpose of our geotechnical investigation has been to explore
and evaluate the surface and underlying soils within the
undisturbed areas of Phase I and to assess soils for a low
permeability "clay" liner. Our services also included providing
data to aid in selection of a liner design for the next landfill
unit. The scope of our services was approved by the County under
an "Agreement for Consulting Engineering services,10 dated September
Copyright 1991 Kleinfetder, Inc. 1
