Job Safety Analysis -M Pre-Job Preparation Safety Access/Location Employee Authorization to STOP Work Air Pressure Testing/Explosion: 1 have been given authorization,without fear of reprimand or retaliation,to immediately 1. Get Permit for Job STOP any work activity that presents a danger to me,my co-worker or the public;get 2. Fill out JSA Wind Direction: involved,question and rectify any situation that is identified as not being in compliance 3. Review JSA(EVERYONE) with our safety and health policies;to report any unsafe conditions or acts to supervision 4. Sign JSA(EVERYONE) Evacuation Route: and question any activity that involves violation of established Safety and Health policies. Assembly Point: Job Tasks: (What are you doing?) Potential Hazards: Recommended Action or Procedure to eliminate/mitigate Hazards Air Pressure Testing Explosion • Ensure a safe perimeter has been established around pipe testing area • Keep all unnecessary personnel out of work area • Verify section of pipe to be tested is free of dirt,sand, or other material • Assure test segment of pipe has reached a constant or ambient temperature • Ensure all caps and air testing devices are butt welded to prevent blowout • Ensure all testing apparatus is securely fitted into the test end of the pipe section. • If temporary cap driplegs are used,ensure they are isolated from tanks • Add air to pipe test section at 10 psig increments only. Maximum allowable pressure for SDR17 gas piping is 30 psig. Maximum allowable pressure for SDR11 air piping is 100 psig. • Observe test pressure for 1/2 hour between 10 psig increments • If leaks are observed,no repairs may be done without verifying the pressure gauge is reading zero. Air Pressure Testing Handling Heavy Objects • Observe proper lifting techniques • Obey sensible lifting limits(60 Ib.maximum per person manual lifting) • Use mechanical lifting equipment(hand carts,trucks) to move large,awkward loads
