E
GeoSyntec Consultants
displacements using the modified Newmark [1965] method and charts developed by
Makdisi and Seed [1978].
The slope stability analysis was perforined for a 2H: 1V slope with a drainage layer
and a 3H:1V slope without a drainage layer. Based on the results of the analysis, the
proposed final cover design will have a long term, static factor of safety of 1.5 and is
calculated to have less than 2 -in. (50 -mm) of final cover displacement during the design
seismic event. The actual materials used in construction must meet or exceed the
assumed material properties listed in Table 3-2. The results of the analysis are
summarized in Table 3-3 and presented in Appendix E.
Table 3-3
Final Cover Slope Stability Results
Prescriptive Final Cover
WMU B, Forward Landfill
Notes: 1) Reported seismic displacement is upper bound value per Makdisi & Seed [1978] for
Richter magnitude 7.5 earthquake.
2) N/A = not applicable
3.4.3 CQA Activities
(C) construction quality assurance methods pursuant to §§20323 & 20324;
The construction quality assurance (CQA) plan for construction of the WMU B
final cover system is included in Appendix C.
