remaining refuse capacity at the site as of January 2000 is estimated to be approximately 48,064,900 cy (based on a refuse to soil volume ratio of 6:1 and a refuse density of 1,740 pounds per cy). The site capacity calculations reflecting this information are included in Appendix C. 4.6 SITE LIFE PROJECTION 4.6.1 SITE LIFE CALCULATIONS In order to calculate the site°fife for the Forward Landfill; the following criteria was utilized. • Remaining Site Capacity (with liner, daily, intermediate and final cover) 51 mcy • '_Refase.to"Cover Ratio '6:1 • In-Place Density 1,740 lbs/cy Based.on the-ab«ve• teriwand°utilizing a-starting4nffc rate-of 4,400 tpd with a 1.5 % annual growth rate and a maximum daily permitted refuse inflow rate of 7,880 ted, the Forward Landfill will have a projected site life of 19 years. Based on these calculations (see Table 8) operations at the Forward Landfill could extend to June 2020 4.6.2 FACTORS AFFECTING SITE CAPACITY Many factors can affect the ultimate site capacity of a4 given landfill including variations in waste type, compaction rates, the use of alternative daily covers and the annual tonnage delivered_to the landfill. The actual.daily tonnage at the Forward Landfill depends greatly on the economy. Since a good maJority of the waste accepted at the ForwardLandfill will be construction/demolition type wastes, the inflow will be dependent on how much of that type of work is occurring in the area. The tonnage will also vary as the contracts with clients fluctuate and specialty markets change. Therefore, there may be times when the Forward Landfill will be accepting the maximum permitted tonnage of 7,880 tpd a. and others where it will fall way below. Table 8 is presented to provide a rough estimation of the inflow to the Forward Landfill for permitting purposes.
