2.7 PROTECTIVE OPERATIONS LAYER <br /> A. The material shall consist of generally sandy material excavated onsite. The <br /> material will be located within an onsite stockpile. Protective operations layer <br /> placed directly above geosynthetics shall have no angular particles greater than <br /> 1 inch. <br /> 2.8 PLYWOOD SHEETING <br /> A. Plywood sheeting shall be exterior grade. <br /> 2.9 EQUIPMENT <br /> A. General: <br /> 1. Equipment used in constructing the Work shall be in good working order and <br /> shall be operated in strict accordance with manufacturer's instructions and <br /> recommendations. <br /> 2. Any soils contaminated by discharge of fluids from leaky or faulty equipment <br /> shall be removed and properly disposed and the contaminated area backfilled <br /> with clean soil, at no cost to the OWNER. <br /> B. Clay Processing Equipment <br /> 1. Use clay processing equipment meeting the following requirements: <br /> a. Of a type and of sufficient size to process the onsite clay material to <br /> meet requirements for maximum clod size and to provide a <br /> homogeneously moisture conditioned material. <br /> b. Consisting of rotovator, discs, tilling, or other methods as necessary and <br /> as selected by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR, and of as many <br /> pieces of processing equipment as necessary for EARTHWORK <br /> CONTRACTOR-selected production rates to meet the construction <br /> completion deadlines. <br /> C. Compaction Equipment <br /> 1. Compaction equipment shall be of suitable type and adequate to obtain the <br /> densities specified, and shall provide satisfactory breakdown of materials to <br /> form a dense fill. Flooding or jetting will not be allowed. <br /> 2. Compaction equipment shall be maintained in such condition that it will <br /> deliver the manufacturer's rated compactive effort. If inadequate densities <br /> are obtained, larger and/or different types of additional equipment shall be <br /> j provided by the EARTHWORK CONTRACTOR. Hand-operated <br /> equipment shall be capable of achieving the specified densities. <br /> 3. For the Clay Liner Material, use compaction equipment meeting the <br /> following requirements: <br /> FORWARD LANDFILL 02300 <br /> 7 EARTHWORK <br />
